New Capital Restaurant, Sibu

  • Jan 17, 2009

I'm bored, sitting here by myself and listening to Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis. It's a song that I like long time ago but I just downloaded it recently after I went to karaoke with my friends.

Not suppose to talk about what songs I like. I'm just too bored that I think I'll update the blog a bit. Browsing my old photos again, for don't know N times in a day (that's what I do when I have nothing to do at home, well, I suppose there's some cleaning waiting for me *.*), I found some photos of food I took in Sibu.

My younger brother had been tempting me about New Capital restaurant's food. The Foochow style fried fish (bai chang is the fish's name, anyone please let me know its proper english name if you know). So I insisted to go back there to have it and my elder brother was kind enough to bring me.

The first dish, we usually call it Hot Plate (convert to mandarin. lol.). Prawns, abalone, vegetables, fish stomac etc.

The dish that I've been craving for, Foochow style Fish. The chief sliced the fish meat into pieces and deep fried the fish bone plus head and fish meat.. and served over the delicious gravy.

We also ordered a vegetable dish. Stir fry asparagus with prawns.

I love all the dishes. They are very delicious to me. Definitely want to enjoy the food there again when I go back to Sibu next time.

Brighton Beach

Happy New Year, Happy 2009!

*cough cough cough*. Right, I'm welcoming 2009 with my cough and cold. First week back to work and I caught a cold. It must be the day I went to Brighton Beach, trying to play the ball and catch the frisbee.

We were quite disappointed with the condition at Brighton Beach. The rough sand, the sea shells and the seaweed. It was a windy day as well and we couldn't play what we've planned.

Instead, we used the frisbee as the base of our sand castle, well, we reckoned it looked more like a cake. Childish us.

Can you see the seaweed and shell?

The only good thing is, this beach is just 25 minutes away from my house. But I think they need to maintain it properly, keep it cleaner.

After the beach, we had some dessert from McD. McFlurry I had, orea and cookies flavour. I guess that's how my sore throat started. Hopefully this year won't be sick year for me. Chinese are superstitious, well, maybe just me.

Wagamama

We walked around Chadstone Shopping Centre AGAIN on last Friday, our second time there in a week's time. I saw this Wagamama Japanese restaurant and got pretty excited about it. My friend recommended it to me last time but I haven't got the chance to try.

It's full and we waited for the seat. It's new, so I think that's the reason it's so full. Finally we got a seat, didn't wait long.

We browsed the menu and ordered one starter, two mains and two drinks. The Ebi Gyoza as the starter. Well I don't think I can really consider this Wagamama a proper restaurant. It is sort of located beside the escalators and open air, open kitchen type.

Ebi Gyoza

It tasted alright but the dumpling skin is a bit hard. lolz. I had problem biting it.

Here's my main - Yaki Soba. Stir fry soba with shrimps, chicken, egg, beanshoots, capsicums, topped with the seasoned ginger and fried onion. Taste good.

Damien had the special Wagamama Ramen - it contains seaweed, tofu, prawn, roast pork, mushrooms, vegetables and a lot of spring onion. He prefers stronger soup base.

This meal costed us $51.10. I have to say, it's very expensive!

p/s: photos taken using my mobile phone, pretty satisfied with the quality.. hehe..

I'm a bit, just a little bit, crazy about Ferrero lately. During this festive season, Ferrero came out with two new packagings, well, it's new to me. I decided to give it a really good try. hehe.

Ferrero Garden~ it comes with five different fillings - Almond, Pistachio, Forest Fruits, Hazelnut and Coconut. I personally love the Forest Fruits filling, it's heavenly good to me.

Pink Lady

I need to get a necklace done but just found out that I run out of the chains, so I converted the necklace into a bracelet. lol.

So here is the little pink lady. I think I'll make a pair of pink earrings..if I'm not lazy in completing it and that could make them the matching pairs. But I don't wear pink that much?!

We found it! We found it! It's the biggest forever friends bear that we could find.

Well well, should I make it a him or her? :)

I was very embarrassed to carry it back to the car from Chadstone shopping centre. lol. It's very heavy and apparently you can't see me if I hide behind it.

Grampians, here we are

I have the urge to update my blog again.. is it some kind of virus??

9 November 08

It's three of us again! We visited Grampians National Park. This is my second time there. The first time we went there, it was raining and we couldn't do any track walks.. which was very disappointing. But this time, the weather was really good but too sunny. :D

It's almost 4 hours drive from Glen Waverley, on the way we picked up HJ. 4 hours road trip is really tiring, to keep us awake as well as kill the hunger, we had the Mexican flavour Doritos.. very yummy, highly recommended.

Doritos

We reached around 12.00pm, it's kinda late as we only left few hours before we headed back to Melbourne again. We had lunch there but it wasn't nice. Then without wasting much time, we requested some information from the Information centre and started our day trip in Grampians.

We drove along the road up to the mountain and finally reached the first lookout place. I stopped breathing for a second when I saw the scenary.

Tried to take down the panoramic view, but failed due to the lighting.

Walked along another track to see the famous Balconies. The plants along the track are very dried.. no wonder Melbourne is on water restriction.

Our next must-see is the MacKenzie Falls. We picked the wrong track by going up to the higher lookout point, which we could see the whole waterfalls from there.

"We have to go down there!" That's our first thought when we looked at the falls from the higher point. We walked down another track that lead to the base of the falls.

Almost there - we were on the top of the falls.

Finally finally, after like climbing 400 steps (according to HS), we finally reached the base of the falls!

So happy to see waterfalls. With the time we had, we could only explore two places but we were all satisfied. :)

Grampians is a nice place to visit, but I think we need to stay overnight. 8 hours of return drive is tiring, although I'm not the driver!

Hong Kong

The cruise started from Hong Kong and ended in Singapore. So we stopped Hong Kong a day before the cruise trip. From the airport to the hotel, I saw the bridge, but don't ask me what's the name because I don't know. ;p

HOng Kong - Bridge

Then I saw the buildings / apartments/ flats? I was very shocked to see the condition of the buildings.. it looked like all the units are squeezed together. But these are the old buildings.. the new one looks a lot better.

Buildings

After almost 40 minutes of ride, we arrived at the hotel. This little room costed us RM460 per night. -.-!!

The Hotel

Then my uncles and aunties decided to go shopping. So everyone, except Damien, has been talking about shopping in Hong Kong is cheap and things are nice. I do agree, but maybe ONLY when you are shopping at factory outlets. Other than that, everything seems to be so so expensive.. including FOOD! It's as expensive as eating in Melbourne.

It's expensive to shop because we went to the wrong shopping place. We were suggested to go to the Harbour City, which is reasonably close to our hotel. It's heaven for people who love branded goods.. anything you want - Gucci, Zara, LV, Burberry... and there are two LV shops in Harbour City. This is one of them.

LV shop @ Harbour City
LV shop @ Harbour City

A lot a lot of people in Hong Kong and also a lot a lot of vehicles which made me very tired. The weather was hot and humid. So we went back to hotel early.

The next day before we departed for the cruise trip, we went to yum cha in a seafood restaurant. The food was alright but service was terrible. Lady who served us was very impatient as we couldn't speak fluent cantonese. I was very disappointed with the service and people there. Seriously, the impression given was impatient and impolite. The lady only then turned softer and said "please come again" when we left.. I think it's because my dad gave tips -.-!!

I need to look for the outlets if I go again next time. I might crazily fall in love with Hong Kong because of the shopping there.

Yeap.. so that's the day trip in Hong Kong.

Bye Hong Kong

Bye Hong Kong.

SuperStar Virgo

Let's have a closer view of what's inside of the SuperStar Virgo. LOLz. This is my second time on the Virgo and the fouth time on cruise, if I'm not mistaken. I still can recall the first time I went, was on the SuperStar Aquarius (my horoscope!!) and the room was very very small. We could hardly move when four people are in the room.

Now the room is slightly bigger. There's another bed on the other side. We were on the fifth deck. There are altogether thirteen decks on SuperStar Virgo.

Let's explore other decks. I like the golden horses located in front of the reception on deck 7. The lifts are working and I always feel amazed that there're lifts in the ship.

Don't know what to do on the cruise? Maybe can consider the outdoor swimming pool and spa on deck 12.

Not only that, you can visit library, game room to play cards or mahjong, gym centre, karaoke, arcade centre, cinema, casino etc etc. They've also arranged some activities and live shows such as the magician show and the musical. If you want to try out the pilates or yoga, classes are available early in the morning.

And not to forget that they have variety choices of food you can pick for breakfast, lunch and dinner - western, chinese or buffet (combination of western and chinese).

And I do not have picture for the western restaurant. lolz. Not only these restaurants, they also have other restaurants that you can go but have to pay extra for those.

So yah.. this is where I spent my 5 nights at, during my Malaysia trip. A place where nobody can reach you most of the time.
